During the American Revolutionary War, nearly 500 African Americans and multiracial soldiers from North Carolina fought for the new nation's independence. Join Trevor Freeman, museum educator with Battleship North Carolina, as he examines their often-overlooked service, their pre- and post-war lives, and the legacies of their actions within their communities and the broader society.
The presentation is part of the museum’s Salty Dawg Speaker Series, which features presentations on North Carolina maritime history and culture. The series is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Friends of the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. Reservations are not required. Call 252-986-0720 for more information.
